In Loving Memory ~
Sophie was born on March 16, 1930, in Edmonton Alberta, to Jan and Mary Bajer. She lived a long and happy life and passed away at Mission Creek Landing at midmorning on August 31, 2023, at age 93.
Sophie grew up and went to school in Faust, Alberta, on Lesser Slave Lake. She married William Decourcey Dzaman in 1951. They had no children, but always welcomed their nieces and nephews and their many friends and relatives into their home and they were loved by all.
Sophie was predeceased by her husband Bill; her mother and father, Jan and Mary Bajer; older brothers, Chester, Edward, and Martin; her sisters Nellie, Gladys, Jennie, Rose, and Evangeline, who passed away recently.
She is survived by her sole remaining sibling Ted Bajer, with tears in my eyes as I compose this obituary. Those of you who knew Sophie will remember her as a kind loving person. She didn't have a mean word in her vocabulary nor a mean bone in her body. She was a true and gentle lady all of her life.
Sophie is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews, as well as cousins in Ontario, France, and Poland.
Sophie was a banker and worked at different branches of the Royal Bank of Canada in Quesnel, BC, Chilliwack, BC, Edmonton, AB, and Westbank, BC, and ended her career in Penticton, BC. She retired in approximately 1986, spending 37 years of the good life on a generous RBC pension.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the KGH Foundation, www.kghfoundation.com, or a charity of your choice in Sophie's honour.
