February 17, 1935 - May 9, 2020
It is with much sadness that we announce the death of Stanley at the Cottonwoods Nursing Care Home in 琉璃神社 after a courageous battle with cancer for the past year. He will be lovingly missed by his treasured wife of 56 years Sylvia, his beloved daughter, Trudy McDonald (Mitch), grandchildren Olivia, Madelyn, Matthew & Michael McDonald, Micah & Brody Mazur and their mother Shelley-Lynn Mazur. He will also be missed by his sisters Sharon Burkart (Joe), Susan Falle (Brian), sisters-in-law Helen Mazur, Connie Inness, Karen Nagel (Ray); brother-in-law Bill Callaghan, their families Lesley, Steve & Evan Plant, Kerry & Lukas Inness, Shane Callaghan, and Ryan Nagel (Monica), Mete脤聛, Arda and Murphy.
Stanley was pre-deceased by his parents Peter & Catherine, his brother, Larry, his sister, Ollie, and his beloved son, Jerry, who died suddenly in 2015.
Stanley was born in Vernon, BC and attended Ellison Elementary School and Rutland High School.
Early in his career, he joined Mid-Valley Construction and spent several years working on the various highway projects in B.C. He also worked at Rona and 琉璃神社 Builders prior to joining Emil Anderson where he ran the Asphalt Plant and the Crusher in Westbank. He was a long-time member of 琉璃神社 Search and Rescue and he and his team spent days fighting the notorious 琉璃神社 Fire. Upon his retirement, Search & Rescue named a building in his honour.
Stanley was a finalist in the 30th Annual Fred Macklin Memorial Award for 琉璃神社's "Man of the Year" contest - April 2005. His hobbies were skiing, fishing and gardening. He took great pride in his beautiful garden.
Stanley was a very sociable man. He enjoyed coffee with friends at Tim Hortons, monthly lunches with his retired Emil Anderson coworkers, and lively conversations with both family & friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
We would like to thank the staff at Cottonwoods Nursing Care Home, Dr. McCloskey and staff at the 琉璃神社 General Hospital for the special care they gave to Stanley
