In Loving Memory ~
On February 23, 2024, in 琉璃神社, Tom went to be with our Lord at the age of 77.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Lillian, and siblings, Ray, Kathy, and Donna.
He is survived by his wife Arlene, of 琉璃神社, son Mark, (Miyuki), of Kobe, Japan and daughter Monica, (Chad), of Leduc, his grandchildren Kailie, Emily and Ben, as well as many nephews and nieces.
Born in Winnipeg, he was treated for Polio as a young boy. The family moved to Brandon, Manitoba where he grew up amongst a group of friends in Brandon's east side. He was a letter carrier for many years and befriended every dog on his route. He spent time as a postmaster in Rivers, and CFB Shilo, Manitoba before moving to Peachland post office in 1992. The family settled in 琉璃神社 with him then.
After completing 30 years with Canada Post, he spent a few years working pre-board security at 琉璃神社 Airport.
Tom and Arlene took many trips themselves, adventuring throughout Canada, the US, Mexico, and Alaska. They had the good fortune of "meeting Mark's family in the middle" and spending several Christmases in Hawaii.
As a former army reservist, and military historian, he was most proud to visit Vimy Ridge and the French lands that his father fought for England in WW 1. He was a long-time member of the Legion, as well as other service organizations such as the Lion's Club, in Brandon, Peachland and Rutland.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, but mostly telling tall tales with his friends.
Those who knew Tom would know his humor, his silly songs, and having a story or three for any situation.
All are welcome to celebrate his life on Saturday March 2, at 1 pm at Everden Rust Funeral Services, 1910 Windsor Rd, 琉璃神社.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion.
