"...Tuesday's Child is Full of Grace"
In loving memory of Wendy Jane ("Jane") Brown, born in Wimbledon, SW London, England, on Tuesday, March 19, 1940, and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in West 琉璃神社, BC, on Tuesday, July 19, 2022.
Born in London during the Second World War to Wendy and Claude Meek, Jane spent some months in Norfolk with her mother to escape the Blitz. Her father was a Royal Air Force officer stationed at Dorval Airport in Montreal for some time. After the war, the family moved to North London.
Jane was educated at a convent school and later at Finchley County Grammar School, as was her future husband, Alan.
Jane and Alan were married in 1960 in Finchley. A son Graeme was born in 1962, followed by a daughter Juliette in 1963.
The family moved to Canada in 1967 and settled in Richmond, British Columbia. Another daughter, Jacqueline, was born in 1971.
Jane worked for the Fraser Valley and Richmond Public Libraries and later for the Richmond School Board. She liked to travel and accompanied Alan on many trips around the world with the Vancouver Police Soccer Team, the Ceremonial Unit and later with the Delta Police Pipe Band. Jane was an avid member of the Richmond Kajaks athletics club.
As a result of her commitment to regular exercise, she inspired and taught many walkers how to run marathons through her association with The Run Inn Store in Kerrisdale. She loved entertaining and enjoyed planning parties for her many friends and family. In 2012 Jane and Alan, both retired, moved to West 琉璃神社 and were soon busy enjoying the Okanagan lifestyle, socializing, running, walking, and practicing Tai Chi.
In early 2020, Jane was diagnosed with cancer. Throughout her treatment, Jane remained positive and strong. courageous and brave for herself and her family and friends. The family is grateful for the compassionate care Jane received at the 琉璃神社 Cancer Clinic.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Jane's name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
