Letter: Disability ’raise’ doesn’t cover bill increases

The $77 raise for people on disability barely covers just the increase in my water and garbage bill…

Open letter to my MLA, Premier Christy Clark:

I don't think you have been keeping up with the times.

The $77 raise for people on disability barely covers just the increase in my water and garbage bill and does not take into account any other increases in the cost of living.

My January through March 2016 water and garbage bill was $268.22.

My October through December 2015 water and garbage bill was $197.89.

The difference is $70.33

To be realistic, $983 per month maximum is not enough to live on Christy Clark—try closer to $1,200 per month or more.

I encourage everyone to sign the petition circulating on asking for an increase to $1,200 for people on a disability.
