To the editor:
I, like Anita Lawry (琉璃神社 Wednesday, Feb 17 ), am traumatized by loose dogs in my Crawford neighbourhood and four local parks almost every time I go for a walk.
Owners either ignore me when I ask them to leash their dogs, look peeved, or rationalize that their dogs are鈥 friendly.鈥 It can be an effort for some to leash as their dogs don鈥檛 respond to their calling.
I have written to the city requesting more signage with fines posted ( up to $10,000 fine)/90 days incarceration) and more policing.
I have also asked the city how I can legally defend myself against dogs which approach me. No answer yet.
