Letter: Police should target tire-squealers

This unacceptable noise is heard especially after 3 p.m. and carries on all night to a greater or lesser degree.

To the editor:

What is the protocol for police to stop the never-ending speeding in the city?

The night of July 22, at 3 a.m., some idiot must have thought Pandosy Street had morphed into the Indy 500 speedway. Burning rubber at Sutherland Ave. awakened me.

About 10 minutes later I did hear the RCMP sirens, but I鈥檓 not sure there was a hope in Hades catching 鈥淭he Idiot.鈥

There is so much traffic noise (cars, trucks, motorcycles) at this corner, I think an officer could be posted full time. The fines collected would more than pay the RCMP for their time. And some of the vehicles and idiots would be removed for as long as necessary.

A training program could also be part of rehabilitation of Mr. or Ms. Idiot. This unacceptable noise is heard especially after 3 p.m. and carries on all night to a greater or lesser degree.

Are there more of these special spots for speed and noise in the city? What is being done to address this issue?
