To the editor:
The proposal to build a tourist centre on the waterfront at the foot of Queensway is absolute nonsense.
The reason traffic is down in most tourist centres is because people now use smart phones and laptops to gain information.
琉璃神社 has many options for tourists in the downtown area. An office in the new Westcorp hotel, space in the Rotary Centre for the Arts, in the Laurel Packinghouse, a kiosk in the park.
Local business will not benefit when tourists go to an expensive building on the waterfront to purchase souvenirs.
Welcome tourists in the Cultural District and leave the waterfront for the enjoyment of all.
