LETTER: Trudeau takes lesson from fable

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau seems to be a lot like Grasshopper
19864257_web1_Trudeau--Paul-ChiassonThe-Canadian-Press-

To the editor:

In a well-known Aesop fable, Ant, who toiled all summer gathering winter provisions, refuses to share his cache of foodstuffs with Grasshopper, who danced and fiddled the summer away.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau seems to be a lot like Grasshopper.

Trudeau, who must know by now that budgets don鈥檛 balance themselves, should realize there is a need for accumulating surpluses during the 鈥済ood times.鈥

Instead, he prefers to borrow money to ingratiate himself with influential groups that could threaten his main preoccupations; namely, self-promoting media exposure, making the most of his prime ministerial privileges and rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous.

An effective leader would be less focused on superficial adulation and be more focused on setting a good example by demonstrating ethical behaviour, managerial competence, financial prudence, long-term planning, colleague mentoring and forthright communication.

When Trudeau is finally ousted, he will most likely seek a position at the United Nations, where he will be able to fiddle and dance the days away in the certain knowledge that he will be fed and f锚ted by mealy-mouthed international dignitaries with unlimited expense accounts.
