Here we are now 17 years later with a dying lake and zebra mussels multiplying at unstoppable rate

To the editor:

This is what happens when the problem is not addressed 100 per cent at an early stage. Seventeen years ago when we purchased a cottage on Lake Winnipeg, Eva Pip a scientist monitoring the lake said the lake was in trouble with an algae problem. That fell on deaf ears. Here we are now 17 years later with a dying lake and zebra mussels multiplying at an unstoppable rate. Every boat owner should take it upon themselves to be aware of what will happen here in the Okanagan if the mussels cannot be stopped. Devastation. We will see first hand very soon if our sandy beach up on Lake Winnipeg can even be walked on. This is extremely important.
