BC Ferries pushes back late-night sailing for Victoria's CFL debut

3-day festival includes events at Royal Athletic Park, Victoria's Inner Harbour and Starlight Stadium in Langford

As Royal Athletic Park in Victoria readies for its big debut as a CFL venue, BC Ferries is pushing back a sailing to ensure folks get off the Island.

Touchdown Pacific will see the BC Lions play host to the Ottawa Redblacks on Saturday (Aug. 31) at the Victoria  stadium – expanded to welcome 14,000 fans.

In anticipation of those travelling from the mainland, BC Ferries is pushing back its final ferry of the night out of Swartz Bay in North Saanich from a 9 p.m. departure to 10 p.m.

Saturday’s game is the finale of three days of fun for the whole family. Catch BC Lions open practice, during the Official Touchdown Pacific Festival on Thursday and Friday at Ship Point Inner Harbour.

Thursday, from noon to 2 p.m. the community can watch the BC Lions at open practice at Starlight Stadium in Langford. This is a free event open to the public, however, due to the expected high demand RSVP is required at.

Festivities at Ship Point Inner Harbour in Victoria kick off at noon with food, drink and entertainment, with the final performer taking the stage at 6:30 p.m.. BC Lions players make an appearance at 4 p.m. for autographs.

Friday follows a similar format with the Grey Cup and BC Lions players in attendance from 2 to 4 p.m.
