The slopes were in near-perfect condition as Big White Ski Resort hosted the best para snowboarders in the world.
From March 4-10, the resort's Telus Park was the canvas for athletes in the 2025 Welcome to Paradise, FIS Para Snowboard World Championships.
"This week just adds to our legacy,鈥 said Big White director of terrain park and outdoor events Flynn Seddon. 鈥淓very year, the park and events crew step up to construct, execute, and deliver a world-class competition venue. Our terrain park builder Ben Tregillus, was truly challenged to create one of our best courses ever, and with the support of the park and events team, we made it happen.鈥
During the competition, Canada's Tyler Turner won his third straight world title in the men鈥檚 LL1 snowboard cross event.
鈥淚t鈥檚 pretty freaking cool being in Canada for the World Championships,鈥 Turner said in the FIS press release. It was the first time his wife, mom, and grandparents got to see him compete.
Through the many different events, China came out on top with 10 medals and three world titles.
鈥淭he level of both the banked slalom and snowboard cross courses was outstanding,鈥 added Seddon. 鈥淭here was pressure on the resort to provide a competitive venue at a world-class level, and everyone agreed that we delivered. The level of athleticism continues to rise, and it鈥檚 truly amazing to see what these athletes can accomplish.鈥
