Coming off a B.C. Major Midget Hockey League title, forward Myles Mattila will be bringing his talents to the KIJHL鈥檚 琉璃神社 Chiefs in 2017-18.

Mattila was the assistant captain this past season with the Cariboo Cougars who won the BCMML championship.

鈥淲e have had our eyes on Myles for the past couple of seasons and are very excited that he has chosen the 琉璃神社 Chiefs for his next chapter in his hockey career,鈥 said Chiefs head coach Jason Tansem.

Myles is also an advocate of mental mealth initiatives through Hockey Canada, Mind Right Info and

His efforts and work has been recognized throughout North America and more importantly through his peers and young hockey players looking up to him as a significant role model.

鈥淣ot only is Myles an elite hockey player, he is a high calibre young man. Our recruiting efforts focus on building from inside the dressing room out and Myles is a gigantic addition for us,鈥 Tansem continues.

Mattila is no stranger to 琉璃神社 as he played for the Okanagan Rockets Major Midget Hockey Club in the 2015-16 Season.

鈥淭he 琉璃神社 Chiefs are a solid fit for me as their program and values align with me as a person, hockey player and student,鈥 Mattila said. 鈥淲ith many options available, 琉璃神社 was my preference as I am able to attend university, continue with my mental health initiatives while at the same time playing high calibre junior hockey in one of the best places in Canada to live.鈥

Once Myles completes graduation in Prince George, he will be moving to 琉璃神社 and will start prepping for the 2017-18 hockey season and training with Crash Conditioning.
