With a strong 2016-17 season, ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç’s Ana Large established herself among the top young female alpine skiers in the province.
A member of the Apex Ski Club, Large is coming two podium efforts at the Teck B.C. U14 alpine championships.
She won silver medals in both of her GS races , March 17 to 19 at Big White.
Large displayed her athleticism in the first GS run of the series recovering from a near crash and positioned herself in fourth place despite the setback. A picture perfect second run moved her combined time to 1:53:25 second place and earned her the first of two podium visits of the weekend.
Kiera Swift of Big White Racers finished in 16th position with a time of 2:02:20 and also earned the ‘most improved’ medal of the day.
The second day of the GS series was plagued with horrendous weather conditions including thick fog, gale force winds, pouring rain and hail.
Large’s time of 56:58 placed her second behind teammate Noa Rogers of North Vancouver for the second day in a row.
Big White Racer Anna De Wynter had a 13th place finish with a time of 1:00:31 and also earned the ‘most improved’ medal of the day.
On the boys side ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç’s Adam Fricska claimed 10th place in GS on the final day of the series.
Large has had an outstanding 2017 season, claiming podium finishes in every race series she has attended.
Next up, are the Western Canadian Championships at Silver Star April 7 to 9, followed by the prestigious International Whistler Cup 2017.
