The city of Enderby is lacing up its skates and preparing to drop the puck on a massive contest that could net the city鈥檚 arena $250,000.
Enderby is in the top four of Kraft Hockeyville, with the winner receiving a quarter of a million dollars and an NHL preseason game.
Voting will take place at 6 a.m. on Friday, March 29 until Saturday, March 30 at 2 p.m. The 32-hour voting window gives everyone the opportunity to vote as many times as you can.
Angie Clowry, who was the team leader of Kraft Hockeyville winner in 2016 (Lumby), is urging family, friends and strangers to sign up and vote.
鈥淓veryone in Lumby is planning on voting as we know how exciting it is and how it brought the greater community, friends and family together,鈥 Clowry said. 鈥淲e owe Enderby as they voted for us.鈥
Clowry has created a with already has more than 4,000 members, for individuals to keep up-to-date on the voting efforts.
The Enderby Memorial Arena was shut down for the season prematurely in early January, after an issue with their refrigeration system. Numerous groups utilize the central arena, such as the North Okanagan Minor Hockey Association and A.L. Fortune Secondary鈥檚 Hockey Canada Skills Academy.
Competing against Enderby is Elliot Lake, ON.; Cochrane, Alta.; and Wolseley, Sask. The three runners-up will all receive $25,000 for arena upgrades.
The Kraft Hockeyville winner will be announced in the first commercial break of the Vancouver Canucks vs. Anaheim Ducks game on Sunday, March 31 on CBC. Puck drop is scheduled for 12:30 pm.
