Gardiner WHL player of the week—again

ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç Rockets forward leads WHL in playoff scoring with 15 goals and 27 points.

To say Reid Gardiner has been a good acquisition for the ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç Rockets would be a colossal understatement.

For the second time in seven days, the 21-year-old forward has been named the WHL’s player of the week.

Gardiner had two goals and two assists in a split of two games with the Seattle Thunderbirds, including the winner in overtime in a

Gardiner now has a club record 15 playoff goals, surpassing the Rockets’ all-time mark of 13 set by Jamie Benn during the 2009 playoffs.

His record-breaking 14th goal came shorthanded with just one second remaining in the first period of Game 2.

And with 27 points in just 13 games, the Humboldt, Sask. native also owns the WHL playoff scoring lead.

Acquired prior to the trade deadline from the Prince Albert Raiders, Gardiner joined the Rockets from the American Hockey League’s Scranton Wilkes-Barre Penguins in January.
