Local athletes scored big at the first 琉璃神社 Kix Invitational Martial Arts Tournament, hosted by Silent Tiger Martial Arts.
On April 8, the 琉璃神社 Boys and Girls Club saw nearly 60 competitors from all over B.C. compete in kata, point sparring, weapons and kickboxing.
Schools from Williams Lake, Quesnel, Salmon Arm, Sicamous, Smithers and 琉璃神社 were in attendance.
鈥淲e plan on doing this every year and have plans to make it a major event in the coming years,鈥 said Silent Tiger Martial Arts host and owner Chad Genereux. 鈥淲e would really like to see more martial artists come out and try competing in a safe and fun way next year.鈥
When the dust cleared Silent Tiger Martial Arts鈥 12 competitors took home four gold, 10 silver and three bronze medals.
The most significant note was that Silent Tiger took all of the medals in the kickboxing divisions ages 13 and up.
