Two months of cricket action is coming to Revelstoke.
Back to back Sunday home games are set to follow the launch of a brand new cricket facility in town.
The achievement was celebrated on Sunday 4th August, with a 30 over match against Nelson. Revelstoke elected to bat first but the top order was blown away by exciting bowling and questionable shot selection.
Opener Gaurav Joshi kept the total moving and was supported with some production lower in the order. But Revelstoke needed a steady partnership. In the 24th over they were bowled out, setting Nelson the target of 108 runs to win.
In reply, Nelson’s batsmen got off to a flyer with several boundaries. The pressure was on Revelstoke, but they responded brilliantly with quick wickets. In particular Navdeep Samra made a superb catch on the boundary edge which removed the in-form batsman.
A period of tight bowling followed, however the low total was easily in reach and Nelson finished the game strong, winning by 5 wickets.
The game was attended by a passionate crowd, with some experiencing cricket for the first time. Eager to grow its following, the club has arranged three Sunday home games this month against Salmon Arm, twice, and Vernon Cricket Club.
The Revelstoke Cricket Club will then travel to the Shuswap in September, before returning to host touring teams from Calgary. Details of all upcoming matches and events can be found on their F
