Several local boxers got to experience the thrill of the fight during Whizbang Boxing's second Interior Series event.
The Salmon Arm club welcomed contenders from the Lower Mainland, Vernon and Penticton boxing clubs for an evening of Olympic-style boxing at Song Sparrow Hall on Saturday, April 12.
The night's fight card included Whizbang boxers Hamish Wilson, Carter Mills and Daylen Zachary.
Whizbang's Shelley Desautels, who owns and runs the gym with partner Shawn, said Wilson had a phenomenal fight that was stopped due to an injury to his shoulder. Zachary also fought well until her bout was stopped by the ref. His first time competing in the ring, Mills went three rounds before the fight was called in favour of Rebels Boxing's Tyson Dickson.
"He had a hard opponent and fought really well…," said Desautels of Mills.
Desautels noted the event was a opportunity for the Salmon Arm club's fighters.
"As much as the win is great, it really is just to give them that opportunity to get more experience in the ring," she said.
The Desautels are considering hosting another Interior Series event in November.
