Turn back the clock night. Legends night. No, you鈥檙e not seeing things night.

The Armstrong Shamrocks host the Kamloops Rattlers in Thompson Okanagan Senior Lacrosse League play tonight, Friday, May 31 (7:30 p.m., Nor-Val Sports Centre).

The Irish will start longtime, thought-to-be-retired goalie Chad Pieper between the posts this evening.

鈥淚t鈥檚 been five years since Chad played for the Shamrocks,鈥 said Armstrong communications advisor Ryan Nitchie. 鈥淟et鈥檚 call this load management to give (starter) Connor Senn a rest. Chad has been coming out to practices, looks great, and we鈥檙e going to give him the start.鈥

There鈥檚 also senior lacrosse action in Vernon as the Tigers entertain the 琉璃神社 Raiders (7:30 p.m., Kal Tire Place). Vernon is looking for its first win of the season.

Senn picked up the win in goal Tuesday, May 28, as the Irish held off the determined Tigers 11-7 in Vernon鈥檚 late home opener. The Shamrocks snapped a two-game losing skid with the win.

The hometown Tigers led 3-2 after one period before Armstrong potted six unanswered goals in the middle frame for an 8-3 advantage, and scored the first goal of the third for seven straight markers.

Former Vancouver Warrior Owen Barker led his hometown Shamrocks with three goals and two assists. Logan Strohm had 2+1 while single goals went to Steve Clark (in his magical violet Nike runners), Nathan Strohm, Josh DuMont, former goalie-turned-runner Cole MacFarlane, Ethan Dodge (1A), and Brett Olsen 鈥 on a spectacular dive across the crease. Connor Webb had three assists for Armstrong.

The Shamrocks welcomed back one-time TOSLL league scoring champion, former St. Catherines Athletics Junior A alumnus, Steve McIlwrath to the lineup. McIlwrath played a strong game on special teams and although snake-bitten from scoring he gobbled up loose balls and distributed the ball with precision all-game long.

鈥淚t was great to be back playing again with our team鈥 said McIlwrath, 鈥淚 was definitely a bit rusty and my finish wasn鈥檛 exactly where I want it yet but it was just great to be back out with the team and contributing in whatever way I can,鈥 said McIlwrath.

Former Vernon Iron Ghost Construction Junior Tigers studs Jordy Barr and Jacob Brewer led the Senior Cats with 2+2 and 2+1, respectively. Skyler Hodgeson, Darcy Rhodes, and Jordan Orr added singles for Vernon, who received a 41-save performance in net from former Western Lacrosse Association MVP Brodie MacDonald.

Senn made 17 saves for the Shamrocks.

Caleb Whiting, Luke Schraeder, Jaymes Dykes, Kegan Cochrane, and Landen Janz also scored for 琉璃神社, who held period leads of 4-3 and 10-5.

The Kodiaks will host the league鈥檚 all-star game Saturday, June 8, 7 p.m., at the 琉璃神社 Memorial Arena.
