PHOTOS: Excitement builds for new season as Canucks come to Penticton

Canucks spent parts of last week in Penticton, gear up for 2024-2025 NHL season

From Quinn Hughes to Elias Pettersson, the Vancouver Canucks brought their brightest stars to Penticton last week for training camp.

The club returned to the city for the first time in 14 years, doing so ahead of the 2024-2025 NHL campaign.

From Sept. 19 to 21, players were split into two groups for on-ice skates before Vancouver held a team scrimmage on Sunday, Sept. 22, at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Photographer Jennifer Small captured all the action from the week, as Penticton hockey fans got an up-close look at this year's edition of B.C.'s team.

The Canucks also spent time across the community, visiting the Penticton Fire Department and local BC Ambulance station.

It wasn't just today's players who brought local excitement to the SOEC, with Canucks coaches and Hockey Hall of Fame inductees Henrik and Daniel Sedin drawing fanfare when they took to the ice.

Vancouver, the defending Pacific Division champions, begins its pre-season on Tuesday, Sept. 24, when it hosts the Seattle Kraken at Rogers Arena.

The club opens its regular season on Oct. 9, with a home date against the Calgary Flames.
