Just two games into their inaugural season, the 琉璃神社 Roosters are perched atop the B.C. Rugby League鈥檚 championship table.

On Saturday in Vancouver, the Roosters made it 2-for-2 in 2017 with a 32-20 upset win over the Capilano Cougars.

The 琉璃神社 effort ended Capilano鈥檚 two-year winning streak in the BCRL.

After the Cougars opened up an early 12-6 lead, the Roosters battled back to take control of the game.

琉璃神社 took a 14-12 lead to the break, then added two quick tries early in the second half to qo up 22-12.

Jeff Lohse鈥檚 second try of the day and another by forward Neil Fowler opened up an insurmountable 32-16 lead and the Roosters were on their way. Lohse now has four tries on the season.

Capilano crossed for a consolation try late in the game, but the Roosters held strong for the 12 point win.

In the end, every try for the Roosters was scored by a 琉璃神社-bred athlete.

鈥淲hat a great day for local 琉璃神社 athletes,鈥 said Roosters coach Marc Matthew. 鈥淚 was very proud of every player in this squad in this great team performance and how unselfish each player was to play their role for the club.鈥

The Roosters return to action is Saturday, June 24 at the Apple Bowl against the Vancouver Dragons. Kick off is 2:30 p.m.
