The Okanagan Mission Huskies returned home from 2017 B.C. AA high school girls soccer championship in Nelson with silver medals in their possession.

The Huskies reached the championship final of the provincial tournament, before falling 1-0 the St. Thomas More.

OKM fell behind in the first half and despite numerous attempts weren鈥檛 able to capitalize on their chances. The second half saw more opportunities for both teams, but injuries and the effects of the four previous games had taken its toll on the young Huskies. Unable to score and force overtime, the Huskies had to be content with second place.

鈥淭he girls had a fantastic tournament,鈥 said Huskies coach Linda George. 鈥淎ll the players contributed to the success and their performance was an improvement over last year鈥檚 fourth-place finish.鈥

The Huskies won their pool, dominating JL Crowe 4-0, defeating St. Thomas Aquinas 1-0 and coming from behind to beat Langley Fundamental 2-1.

In the semi finals the Huskies beat Archbishop Carney 1-0 to earn a spot in the final.

OKM鈥檚 Stefanie Young was named the tournament鈥檚 most valuable player.
