Four members of the Okanagan Sun have been named to the B.C. Football Conference all-star team on defence.

Defensive lineman Jonas Gering, linebacker Layne Hull, linebacker Conor Richard and safety Beck Fullerton were all key contributors to the Sun defence in 2016, which allowed the second fewest points (219) in the conference this season.

Gering, who missed training camp and the first two games of the regular season, was named an all-star for the second year in a row.

In eight games in his final junior season, Gering led the club with 4.5 sacks, gathered 25 tackles, had six assisted tackles and one knockdown.

Hull was the club’s second leading tackler with 30 stops, had 10 assisted tackles, three sacks, three knockdowns, forced a fumble, returned a fumble 13 yards for a touchdown and collected a 16-yard interception.

Fullerton, taking over for graduated all-Canadian Brennan Van Nistelrooy, had a CJFL-best two interception returns for touchdowns of more than 70 yards.

He finished the season with a team high six interceptions, 17 tackles, three assisted stops and four knockdowns.

A BCFC rookie from Tennessee, Richard was one of the Sun's hardest hitting players on defence.

A force at the linebacker position, he tallied 25 tackles, eight assisted tackles, had a sack, blocked two kicks, had three knockdowns and intercepted three passes.

This Sunday, the Sun will host the Langley Rams in the BCFC semifinal. Kick off at the Apple Bowl is 1 p.m.
