CFL draft pick Quinn Horton will play this season with the BCFC's Okanagan Sun

A draft pick of the CFL's Calgary Stampeders last month, Quinn Horton has decided to spend his summer in 琉璃神社. And no one is happier than the Okanagan Sun.

Horton, a 6-foot-3, 289-pound defensive lineman, has signed on with the B.C. Football Conference club for the 2016 season.

Horton had an outstanding 2015 campaign with the Simon Fraser Clan, leading the team's d-lineman in solo tackles with 22, 8.5 of those for losses, while adding 1.5 sacks.

In his junior year at SFU, Horton was named a first-team Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) all-star.

With the ability to play on either the defensive or offensive lines, Sun head coach Ben Macauley is thrilled to have a player of Horton's talent and versatility.

鈥淨uinn comes in with a goal of returning to the CFL and in the process, battling for a national championship," said Macauley. "He was one of the top players in the GNAC conference and is physically dominant in the trenches. He checks all the boxes鈥攕ize, talent, strength and high quality of character.鈥

Horton, native of Winnipeg, was drafted 68th overall by Calgary in this spring's CFL draft.

He was released by the Stamps following the team's training camp.
