The 琉璃神社 Owls confirmed their standing as the No. 1 team in with a convincing performance at the Gator Classic in Langley.

With eight of the top 10 teams competing at Walnut Grove, the Owls went undefeated en route to winning gold, knocking off No. 2 Vancouver Tech in straight sets Saturday in the championship final.

In a display of team depth, coach Mike Sodaro played all 14 Owls in the gold medal match.

With eight of the top 10 teams competing at Walnut Grove, the Owls went undefeated en route to winning gold, knocking off No. 2 Van Tech in straight sets Saturday in the championship final.

In a display of team depth, coach Mike Sodaro played all 14 Owls in the gold medal match.

"More than any other team, we have a complete team effort," said Sodaro. "We do not rely on one guy to put the ball away, as everyone is very capable and continues to improve so that we have few weaknesses when we are passing well.

"I was very proud of the boys this weekend."

KSS also took down No. 5 Dover Bay in the quarterfinals and No. 3 Delta Secondary in the semis.

The Owls' next tournament is at George Elliot Secondary on Nov. 4 and 5.

The Owls are: Kyle Blaser, Jacob Bos, Kyle Butchart, Spencer Doody, Jase Goerzen, Josh Hilverda, Keyshon Jackson, Grayson McMillan, Chris Mitchell, Jackson Obst, Justin Peleshytyk, Nathan Smawley, Aidan Van Dam, and Connor White.
