The host 琉璃神社 Heat U12 B team celebrates its silver medal win at the Spring Sizzle fastball tournament.

For a group of players that came together just a week before the tournament, the 琉璃神社 Heat didn't look at all out of step last weekend at High Noon Park.

The 琉璃神社 team, consisting of players from 琉璃神社, West 琉璃神社, Penticton and Barriere, was perfect in the round robin, posting a 3-0 record thanks to wins over the Langley Extreme (9-2), Abbotsford Valley Venom (9-1) and Coquitlam Classics (8-2).

In the semifinal, the Heat then beat the Classics again 7-3 to advance to the in the final.

In the championship game, 琉璃神社 went to an extra inning against the Langley Extreme before losing 6-5.

"The team was put together just a week before the tournament and we played against seven teams from the coast that play together year round," said Heat coach Scott Binne. "It was unbelievable."

The U12 Heat are: Ryley Binne, Jayce Cyra, Cassie McConell, Georgia Clough, Danielle Collins,

Hunter Eskritt, Isabella Green, Alexei Jensen, Madysin Martin-Brewer, Sydney Morris, Eden Tonhauser and Emma Watson.
