With 10 games left and their playoff chances fading, the Vernon Vipers took a day trek to Kekuli Bay Provincial Park Wednesday, Feb. 26, for some team building exercises and some fun.
At least a pair of Vipers 鈥� forward Luc Bydal and defenceman Brock Heidecker 鈥� braved the chilly waters of Kalamalka Lake with an icy plunge.
The Vipers have two vital home games this weekend as they try to snap a six-game B.C. Hockey League losing streak.
Vernon takes on the Alberni Valley Bulldogs Friday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m., then kick off the final month of the regular season Saturday with a date against the Spruce Grove Saints at 6 p.m. Both games are at Kal Tire Place.
Vernon (12-26-6-0) begins the weekend in 10th place in the Interior Conference, 11 points behind the West 琉璃神社 Warriors, who have dropped into the eighth and final playoff spot, one point behind the seventh-place Okotoks Oilers. The Snakes are seven points behind ninth-place Spruce Grove (16-22-5-0), and the Saints have one game in hand.
The Bulldogs (23-18-2-1) arrive in Vernon having lost their last two games, and sit in sixth place in a log jam in the Coastal Conference. Just seven points separate third place (Surrey Eagles) from seventh spot (Nanaimo Clippers).
