The snow is falling the time has come for Boo to rest his weary head after a summer of fun in the sun.

The Grizzly Bear Refuge at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is preparing for their celebrity to enter his winter dormancy.

According to the refuge, when temperatures drop this period grizzly bears can slow their heart rate to about 8 bpm, respiratory rate to about one to three breaths per minute, and body temp to about 31 C.

鈥淭he bears have a shivering reflex that allows them to keep their muscles working during sustained inactivity,鈥 said the refuge.

In Golden, bears will start to emerge again in late March and early April.

However, the refuge will ensure to keep Boo fans updated on how his slumber is progressing.

The refuge is closed for the season and will open again in the spring of 2024. Boo is a social media icon, with more than 7,000 followers on Instagram. The grizzly lives in a 20-acre area where he plays, forages and explores within this natural mountainside habitat just like his wild cousins.
