Maple to be celebrated for a month in 琉璃神社 leading to annual event

Maple syrup will be celebrated for an entire month in 琉璃神社 leading up to the 45th annual MapleFest.

From Mar. 25 to Apr. 25, Maple Feast is taking place at a variety of local establishments, leading up to MapleFest.

鈥淭he Maple Feast will feature creations crafted by Bean to Cup, Move Well, Sandrine, and Mill Creek Bakeries,鈥 said the Centre Culturel Francophone de l鈥橭kanagan (CCFO) in a release. 鈥淎mong the delights offered, discover Bean to Cup鈥檚 Salted Maple Latte, Move Well鈥檚 latte with maple sweet cream, Sandrine鈥檚 maple chocolate and a week-end special pastry, Mill Creek Bakeries鈥 walnut maple cupcake and bacon maple cinnamon bun and, last but not least, Sweet Caroline鈥檚 Bakery with a maple walnut glutenless loaf cake, maple-glazed muffins, and a maple-glazed long johns.鈥

With a purchase of each item, a portion will be donated to the Central Okanagan Food Bank.

This leads up to , which takes place on Apr. 25, 27 and 28.

Thursday, Apr. 25 is the start of the three-day event. Details to open the celebration are yet to be announced.

On Saturday, MapleFest Family Day will take over downtown 琉璃神社鈥檚 Stuart Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The day will feature fun for the whole family with bouncy castles, balloon animals, face painting, and clowns. There will be a plethora of maple foods as well including maple taffy made in ice, maple cotton candy, maple sugar tarts, spit pea soup, and more. Admission is free.

The following day is the annual sugar shack brunch taking place at the Laurel Packinghouse from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. New this year, a schedule has been created to increase attendance as the event always sells out. Tickets are $15 plus GST for CCFO members, $18 plus GST for the public, and $8 plus GST for kids. When booking tickets, a prompt will occur during the process to select a specific date and time to attend the brunch, which includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, croutons, ham, maple tart, pea soup, beans, maple syrup, and a drink.

Live music will be played throughout the breakfast.
