Two months shy of the one-year anniversary, a 琉璃神社 lounge and music venue is shutting its doors.
Runaways Lounge opened in August 2022, after it was bought by Dan Bernier and Dave Myers. The two purchased the former Mission Tap House in the South Pandosy neighbourhood with the concept of rebranding and working towards opening a new space for live music.
A long-time staff member of Mission Tap House, Jen Ventresca, worked with the new owners to contact local musicians as well as bands from across B.C. to let them know 琉璃神社 had a new venue to play at.
Runaways was booked every weekend almost from the time they opened until now. It also hosted TrainWreck Comedy nights throughout the fall, which were highly attended.
On June 14, the lounge took to social media to announce that Runaways will officially be closed as of June 19.
鈥淓vents will be running every day this week. We would love to see your friendly faces and share one last experience together. The Runaways team would like to express our gratitude towards all who came out and supported local events over the past year. Venues may come and go but music never dies,鈥 read the online statement.
Bernier has been reached out to for comment.
