Golf tournament raises $76K for oncology clinic

August tournament proceeds benefit new facility in Penticton

On Aug. 17, more than 100 golfers hit the greens at Penticton Golf and Country Club for the 28th annual Peach City Tees Up For Cancer tournament.

The festivities began on Aug. 16 with a 鈥70s disco night themed 鈥淲e Will Survive,鈥 where Rachel Stickland led a spirited rendition of Gloria Gaynor鈥檚 鈥淚 Will Survive鈥 in honour of those affected by cancer.

The dedicated Tees Up executive, a group of hardworking women, made this year鈥檚 event a success, raising $76,000 and surpassing last year's total of $62,000.

The funds will be applied to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation鈥檚 $10 million campaign to equip the new oncology clinic at Penticton Regional Hospital, opening in 2025.

The clinic will provide more nurses, treatment bays, and increased mental health support, with space for social workers and caregivers.

鈥淲e are profoundly thankful for the continued support of these amazing women. Their efforts ensure the highest quality care for the South Okanagan Similkameen region,鈥 said Ian Lindsay, chief executive officer of the medical foundation.
