A love of riding motorcycles has led a former 琉璃神社 student to take on moto-fashion.

Ava Murovec, a Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) fashion student, will be one of 28 emerging designers showcasing their collections in the Wilson School of Design鈥檚 2017 The Show.

Murovec will unveil her line, Mura, over six shows at the Imperial Vancouver April 5 and 6.

鈥淓ver since I started riding motorcycles three years ago, I鈥檝e wanted to create apparel that works on and off the road,鈥 said Murovec. 鈥淎fter many hard years of work it鈥檚 exciting to see my dream come to life.鈥

After graduation, Murovec hopes to take some time off for a motorcycle trip to Alaska as a way to relax after her last four years of school before gaining experience in the fashion industry by working for a local company.

Eventually, Murovec wants to bring Mura to the market and fully develop her own company.

Murovec developed the line as her final project before graduating from KPU鈥檚 Fashion Design and Technology program. The program provides students with a rigorous studio-based design education that provides an opportunity to create and grow in the fashion industry. The capstone project involves extensive market and design research, requiring students to create garments that meet a perceived market need.

Murovec created her line of women鈥檚 moto wear because she believes that you shouldn鈥檛 have to compromise; looking good can be synonymous with functionality.

鈥淢ost of the product is too bulky and only geared to on the road,鈥 said Murovec. 鈥淵our favourite piece should take you where you need to go.鈥
