North Okanagan cyclists gear up for treats, and tricks

NOCS deals up spooktacular good time for final ride of the season
The spooky weather cleared up in time for a howling good time on the bike trails of Ellison Provincial Park over the weekend.

North Okanagan Cycling Society (NOCS) held a Halloween treat trail, poker ride and volunteer appreciation barbecue on Sunday.

"Over 100 people of all ages attended and we had bikes of all kinds - from striders, mountain bikes and single speeds it was an event for everyone," said Erin Whitten, coordinator of the NOCS Trail Ninja's program for youth.

NOCS's mission is to create positive trail experiences for mountain bikers. Mission accomplished Sunday with the final ride of the season with a special decorated trail, games, treats and tricks (including pickle juice shots).

"It's a fun and supportive community," said Whitten of what she gets out of NOCS. "Amazing trails, great food and awesome people! What more could you ask for?"

NOCS memberships contribute to building and maintaining trails within the North Okanagan, including those at Ellison, Kalamalka and Silver Star provincial parks.

Anyone interested in volunteering for NOCS can email volunteer@nocs.ca or info@nocs.ca.
