The 琉璃神社 Art Gallery and Bumbershoot Theatre have teamed up to offer parents a creative solution for how to keep their children busy during the upcoming spring break.
Art Break offers two exciting weeks of camps filled with opportunities to create art and explore theatre for children ages five to eight and nine to 12.
The camps will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily during the weeks of March 20 to 24 and March 27 to 31. Participating children will divide their time between the 琉璃神社 Art Gallery and Bumbershoot Theatre each day, and will also be inspired by short field trips to different places in the cultural district.
At the gallery, children will take part in fun and inspiring activities, such as painting, sculpture, drawing, mixed media, and printmaking, while being inspired by the current exhibitions on view. At Bumbershoot Theatre, they will explore theatre through a variety of games and play. Every day will offer something new, so registering for multiple days is encouraged.
鈥淥ur focus is encouraging their creativity and showing children how rewarding actively participating in the arts can be,鈥 said programming coordinator at the 琉璃神社 Art Gallery, Laura Wyllie.
鈥淚n addition to creative exploration for participants, Art Break offers parents peace of mind knowing that their children will be spending Spring Break with their peers in a nurturing and safe environment.鈥
Class sizes for all of the camps are limited, allowing for lots of one-on-one instruction to enrich the children鈥檚 experience. All programs highlight skill-building and self-expression, as well as the introduction of new ideas and artistic techniques.
The cost for each child per day is $65 and $50 members of the 琉璃神社 Art Gallery. Registrants who sign up for any four days will receive a fifth day free. Daily drop-ins will also be available.
