It鈥檚 time to get those vocal chores, dancing shoes and choreography moves in time because registration is open for the fifth annual Angel Award talent show.

Lake Country resident Louise Boisvert created the show as a way to fundraise and raise awareness for juvenile idiopathic arthritis.

Every year her daughter, Elise, who was diagnosed with the disease at four years old, sings Warrior.

Elise once said during an interview with Capital News, that singing made her forget her pain.

She suffers from chronic pain, pain that never goes away, except when she is on stage singing.

This year, the show will be held at the Rotary Centre for the Arts. Last year, it was held in Lake Country.

鈥淢y heart is in Lake Country. I live here and work here,鈥 said Louise.

There are also new categories this year. First place is $1,000 for the overall Angel Award Performance and category winners earn top placements in each category: dance, vocal and instrumental.

A people鈥檚 choice award is also available for all entrants.

Louise鈥檚 goal for the fifth season is to see a full house and to have people learn about the disease.

鈥淚 want to keep the Angel Award growing,鈥 she said.

In the five years of the awards, Louise said she has many favourite performances, from a solo country artist to a full dance crew, 鈥渢he performers are incredible. It鈥檚 not a typical fundraiser,鈥 she said.

A woman from Alberta loved the performances so much, she doesn鈥檛 mind travelling the distance to see the show.

鈥淪he says 鈥渋t鈥檚 the best performance she鈥檚 ever seen,鈥欌 said Lousie.

Registration is open until Mar. 10 fore preliminary auditions. Contestants will upload a video to YouTube and judges will selected finalists for the Gala Performance Show, held Apr. 2.

Louise described the competition as 鈥渁 lot of fun. We have a lot of laughs backstage.鈥

The show is judged by seasoned professionals, but Louise wants the participants to leave with education on the disease more than viewing the show as a high-end contest.

The talent show is open for those ages 10 to 25.

For more information or to register, visit angelaward.ca.

Tickets for the gala are $28 for adults and $22 for seniors/students. They can be purchased at the Rotary Centre for the Arts or by calling 250-717-5304.
