What better way to get to know people than by singing with them? The Okanagan Children鈥檚 Choir lives out this mantra on a regular basis.

Since its inception in 2015, Okanagan Children鈥檚 Choir has developed a reputation for collaborative performances with other artists and musicians.

As well as performing with many choirs in the Okanagan, the choir appeared as the Gingerbread Children in the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra and Bumbershoot Children鈥檚 Theatre co-production of Hansel and Gretel earlier this season and as a descant chorus in the OSO and 脡cole Glenmore School鈥檚 production of the Governor General鈥檚 Award winning show, How Canada Came to Be.

And now the tradition continues. Spring Chorus will be a performance of beautiful and youthful choral music, with guest choir, the Penticton Youth Choir. Each choir will bring its own music to the performance and then will join forces to close the concert with a performance of an energetic African folksong, entitled Zulu Mama.

The Penticton Youth Choir is an ensemble of the Penticton Academy of Music. They are directed by Tracy Stuchbery and accompanied by Linnea Good. Okanagan Children鈥檚 Choir includes children from 琉璃神社, West 琉璃神社, Vernon and Lake Country, is conducted by Frances Chiasson and accompanied by pianist Esther Goertz.

Join the choirs for this exciting performance at First United Church on Saturday, May 6 at 4 p.m. Tickets are available in advance from 250-869-6817 or at the door, $10 for adults; children &youth under 18 for free.

Okanagan Children鈥檚 Choir is also now booking auditions for its 2017/18 season. For more information, go to www.okanaganchildrenschoir.ca.
