There's still time to get in step with the Shuswap's premiere gala dance competition for a good cause.

The eighth annual Dancing with the Shuswap Stars takes place on Saturday, Nov. 16, at the SASCU Recreation Centre. All proceeds raised from the event go to the Shuswap Hospice Foundation.

For several months now, this year's competing "stars" have been working on their moves in preparation for the event, where the public votes for their favourite dancers through the purchase of star votes, sold for $5 each in advance of and during the event. Advanced voting will be combined with voting on the night of the gala to determine the winning dancers.

Dancers in this year's Amateur Couples category include Kate Boutilier and Peter Chalick, Chris and Chrisi Davis, Arya Javdani and Amanda Steiner and Marc and Meaghan Zaichkowsky. Competing in the amateur singles category are: Reverend Jenny Carter, Brandi McAllister, Darlynne McKenna and Tracy Noble.

While the competing dancers are the main attraction, attendees also get to shine on the dance floor at times throughout the event with music from DJ Liz Blair. Tickets also include gourmet charcuterie boxes, a cash bar and loads of entertainment.
