The 琉璃神社 Rockets have their first win of the WHL season after the beating the Tri-City Americans 2-1 in a penalty filled affair on Saturday night (Oct. 5) in Washington State.
With no scoring in the first period, Austin Zemlak (1) put the Americans on the board first at 3:36 of the second frame for a 1-0 lead. 琉璃神社鈥檚 Michael Cicek (4) tied it just under seven minutes later on the power play. Kayden Longley and Jakub Stanci assisted on the goal. Caden Price (1) scored in the game winning goal, his first of the season, making it 2-1 at 14:49, with assists to Cicek and Longley.
琉璃神社 and Tri City were assessed eight penalties each with the Rockets 1/3 on the power play and the Americans 0/3. Tri City out shot 琉璃神社 32/19. Jake Pilon was in goal for 琉璃神社.
The Rockets next game is Friday, Oct. 11 when they host the Portland Winterhawks at Prospera Place. It鈥檚 also Canadian Cancer Night.
