The Regional District of Central Okanagan has issued a for all customers of the due to increased turbidity in source water caused by the annual freshet (the flood season streamflow from rain and melting snow).
"The advisory affects approximately 295 properties connected to the water system in the community along Westside Road," said RDCO in a release issued Tuesday, April 15. "Roadside sign notices will be in place to let residents know of the Water Quality Advisory."
For precautionary measures, customers – especially those with weakened immune systems, children and the elderly – are advised to boil all water used for drinking, washing fruit and vegetables, making beverages, ice or brushing teeth for at least one minute.
As a safe alternative customers may choose to use bottled or distilled water.
