The Mara Mountain wildfire is 163 hectares in size and continues to grow.

Currently classified as out of control by BC Wildfire Services, the winds are keeping it away from the communities of Sicamous and Swansea Point.

The fire is nine kilometres southeast of Sicamous. BCWS heavy helicopters will continue bucketing operations on Sunday, as access to the fire is difficult due to steep terrain.

According to a release by the Columbia Shuswap Regional District, "fire growth is typical in the afternoons due to higher temperatures during this part of the day. and the smoke plume may become more visible as this happens."

The cause of the fire is suspected to be lightning.

Spot fires in the Perry River area and Upper and Lower Probity Peak are still listed as out of control. An initial attack crew is being brought in.

An Anstey area blaze is now held, while fires near Dasnier's Bay and Yard Creek are under control.

More fires in the area may result in the coming days, so if people see signs of smoke or fire, contact  or call 911 immediately.
