Theft from a vehicle in Malakwa led to the seizure of two stolen vehicles in Naramata with a combined police effort.

On Nov. 12 the Sicamous RCMP received a report of a theft from an unattended vehicle parked at the Eagle River Nature Park where the owner had gone hiking and left two backpacks within view. She returned to find her window broken and the backpacks, containing a laptop and other personal items had been stolen.

The owner was able to provide police with the location of her stolen laptop that had a tracking device installed on it that led police to an address in Naramata.

"Members of the Penticton South Okanagan Detachment attended to the Naramata residence at the request of the Sicamous RCMP on November 14 and located two stolen vehicles parked nearby," Sgt. Murray McNeil said in a media release.

The laptop was recovered along with the stolen vehicles but no arrests have been made.

"This theft serves as a reminder to take valuables with you when parking and not leave them in sight in an unattended vehicle," McNeil added.
