Vernon RCMP continue to investigate serious collision

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP is asking the public for help in their investigation of a serious collision in downtown Vernon on Saturday (July 20).

The incident left a young person with serious, life threatening injuries. The individual, Lynza Henke, is currently in the hospital in serious condition. 

At around 12:10 p.m., police received a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle at the intersection of 32nd Street and 30th Avenue in Vernon. 

Police officers, Vernon fire rescue and ambulance personnel tended to the victim, who was then transported from the scene with serious, life threatening injuries. 

According to RCMP, initial findings from the investigation suggest that Henke was crossing 32nd St in the crosswalk when they were stuck by a pickup truck making a right hand turn from 30th Ave northbound onto 32nd St. 

The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with police. The intersection was closed to traffic for several hours while officers conducted their investigation.
