Slam Poet Shane Koyczan will grace the stage at 琉璃神社's Mary Irwin Theatre on Dec. 6. 

The Penticton born spoken word artist has captured worldwide audiences, rising in fame after performing 'We Are More' during the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. He rose further after a 2013 collaboration with animators to create an anti-bullying video, .

鈥淭hrough his powerful presence and adept use of language, Shane Koyczan explores loneliness, loss, healing, and the miracles that life gifts us," said threatre programming director Andrew Stauffer. "His work is humorous, tragic, sometimes serene, and always steeped in raw emotion. Although his poetry is born from his personal experience, Shane creates a poetic world anyone can enter and explore. He is truly an Okanagan treasure.鈥�

Koyczan is a former Canadian Spoken Word Olympics and USA Slam Poetry Competition champion.
