Construction has begun on a multi-use pathway that will link West 琉璃神社 to Peachland.

The District of Peachland received a grant of $500,000 to fund Phase I of the construction project. When complete, the 2.8km trail will connect Peachland from just north of the Highway 97 and Buchanan Road intersection to Goat's Peak Park in West 琉璃神社, near the Seclusion Bay underpass.

"It will provide a safe, protected multi-use pathway, allowing essential active transportation between the two communities," stated the District of Peachland in a press release.

The pathway will provide an important link in a 250km multi-purpose trail system that will span the Okanagan Valley.

The district has already begun to apply for funding for Phase II of the pathway project.

Currently, three trail systems are close to connecting communities from Sicamous in the north to Osoyoos in the south with the Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail, the Okanagan Rail Trail and the Trail of the Okanagans.
