Central Okanagan local state of emergency comes to an end

All evacuation alerts at the Glen Lake wildfire in Peachland have been rescinded

The state of emergency for the Central Okanagan has come to an end.

Back on Aug. 17, Central Okanagan Emergency Operations put the state of emergency in place because of the Grouse Complex of wildfires. Now with the McDougall Creek and Glen Lake wildfires being held, the state of emergency has been lifted.

Additionally, all remaining evacuation alerts at the Glen Lake wildfire in Peachland have been rescinded.

Ground and aerial crews are still working at the east side of the blaze in Peachland as they are:

Completing a containment line from Billie Road to Finlay Creek;
Mopping up from Eneas Lake to Munro Lake Forest Service Road;
Patrolling and mopping up in the vicinity of Billy鈥檚 Bute;
Directly attacking the fire from the Munro Forest Service Road towards Eneas Lakes Park;
Working off the control lines, putting water on the blackened edge of fire up to 100 ft. into the perimeter.

Danger tree assessors are also on scene to support working crews and ensure safe working conditions. Heavy equipment control lines have been completed and structure protection crews have demobilized.

BC Wildfire Service also stated on Thursday because of changed weather conditions and reduced fire activity, they will no longer be updating the McDougall Creek wildfire.
