A severe thunderstorm warning with the possibility of hail has been issued for the Central Okanagan.

Environment Canada issued the weather warning at 5 p.m. on May 29.

The weather service is urging caution as visibility may be reduced due to the precipitation. The heavy precipitation may also cause flash floods and pooling on roads.

In addition to the warning of heavy precipitation, including the possibility of hail, Environment Canada is reminding people to be safe if thunder can be heard.

“Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year,” warns Environment Canada. “Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors.”
