琉璃神社 high schoolers get a glimpse at college life

Experience OC is a day for high school students to check out a class and tour Okanagan College

琉璃神社 high schoolers had the chance to check out Okanagan College to inspire them for the future.

More than 300 students from School District 23 toured the 琉璃神社 campus and had the chance to sit in on one of the morning classes being offered on May 2.

Associate director of recruitment and enrollment Mehgan Cabrera said, 鈥淐ollege is often daunting鈥e want them to know that it鈥檚 fun and it鈥檚 an opportunity for them to get to the place they want to go.鈥

Cabrera added that the Experience OC day lets students see just what opportunities are out there.

After checking out a college class, the high school students were treated to a hot dog lunch in the courtyard.

鈥淚 always love the quote by Nelson Mandela, 鈥楨ducation is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.鈥 I think sometimes we think 鈥極h, I鈥檒l figure it out. I鈥檒l just take longer,鈥 but, you鈥檙e going to be 50 anyways so why not start now?鈥

The Salmon Arm campus will host Experience OC on May 3, the Vernon campus on May 8, and the Penticton campus on May 9.
