Salmon Arm RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on April 2, 2025.

Police suspected a medical issue or distracted driving to be the cause of a two-vehicle collision where a truck was reportedly rear ended twice before going into a ditch.

A witness to the incident contacted police at 4 p.m. on April 2. He reported seeing a brown 2008 GMC Sierra pickup driving erratically before it rear ended a white 2024 GMC Sierra driving ahead of it.

"The brown GMC struck the white GMC twice from behind, causing the white GMC to spin 180 degrees across the highway into oncoming traffic and into the ditch," said Salmon Arm RCMP media relations officer Const. Andrew Hodges in a news release. "Both vehicles sustained significant damage, but thankfully there were no injuries."

Police responded and the driver of the brown GMC, who passed all sobriety testing, was issued a violation ticket for driving without consideration.

Driving prohibition

While on patrol at 10:20 p.m. on April 10, Salmon Arm RCMP found  a blue 1993 GMC 3500 that Hodges said "appeared to be actively trying to evade police." The vehicle was pulled over and a mandatory breath demand was conducted. The 35-year-old driver blew a warn, resulting in the prohibition.

Jeep stolen

On April 15, a resident of Golf Course Drive in Blind Bay reported their white 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee had been stolen from their driveway.

"The man stated he left on April 11 and returned on April 15 to find his Jeep was gone," said Hodges.

The Jeep was bearing BC license plate KP735K when it was stolen.  The key was accounted for, and the vehicle had about a quarter tank of gas.
