Parking concerns are front and centre for some residents over an apartment-hotel project proposed for Turtle Bay Court.
A developer wants to build a four-storey, 28-unit building at 11506 Turtle Bay Court at Woodsdale and Seymour roads.
During a public hearing on Jan. 9, one area resident felt the project is not providing enough parking stalls for the number of units.
鈥淲e already have a problem with parking there. I鈥檝e had my vehicle damaged, Seymour Road is a dead-end street. He (developer) needs to provide more parking for the number of units he wants to build.鈥
Another resident noted there are 鈥榟uge parking issues鈥 in the area.
鈥淲e have enough trouble on Woodsdale Road with parking, we don鈥檛 need any more.鈥
A staff report shows that 35 spaces are required and that 38 spaces are proposed by the developer. That number will likely be reduced to 35 or 36 to accommodate one loading space.
The district鈥檚 manager of planning, Brian Zurek, noted the development is currently at the rezoning stage at that all the details have not been fully reviewed.
鈥淗owever, should council support the development at future stages of review we would evaluate the required parking based on whatever proposal comes before the community,鈥 he added.
The original plans included 30 units, however, the developer revised it 28 units.
